On June 15, 2021, Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) announced a new date for a third test run at the Green Park Bus Terminal, following an earlier cancellation.
The test run, scheduled for Friday, June 18, 2021, from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., will involve dropping and picking of passengers for Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) operating on specific routes.
According to NMS, all PSVs operating from Moi Avenue Service Lane, Nairobi Railway Station Bus Terminus, Hakati Stage, Ambassador, Mfangano Street, and Kencom serving the mentioned routes will be involved in the exercise.
Additionally, Machakos and Kitengela bound PSVs operating from the Nairobi Railway Station Bus Terminus will use Lusaka Road from Nyayo Stadium roundabout to Hakati bus terminus, where Langata and Nairobi West/Madaraka vehicles operate from.
After the completion of the test run, PSV pick-up and drop-off will continue from the normal places until further notice.
The Green Park Terminal, located at the former Lunar Park, is a drop-off and pick-up point for matatus plying the Ngong Road and Lang'ata routes, currently operating from the Nairobi Railways Central station.
The terminal is part of a wider city decongestion strategy being implemented by NMS under the Nairobi Integrated Urban Development Master Plan, which includes the construction of public service transport termini.
