On June 15, 2021, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to establish a police station near the road sign bearing his name in Kileleshwa.

Atwoli made this request after unknown individuals burned down the signpost, which was erected in a road leading to his residence.

This was not the first time the signpost had been targeted; it was previously demolished in May but was later reinstated.

Atwoli suggested that the best way to prevent future incidents was to establish a police station in the area, which would provide a visible deterrent to potential vandals.

He also requested that the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) and the city county allocate Askaris to man the police station until people forget about the incident.
