Raila Praises Uhuru's Development Agenda, Insists BBI is Kenya's Best Option

Opposition leader Raila Odinga has commended President Uhuru Kenyatta's efforts in addressing Kenya's development needs, particularly in affordable housing and urban planning.

Speaking at the funeral of the late David Kamau Waweru, Raila pointed out that the affordable housing scheme was a significant step towards addressing the country's housing needs, especially given the rapid urbanization of the country.

He argued that the country had no proper urban planning since independence, leading to the emergence of slums, and that the affordable housing scheme was a response to this issue.

According to Raila, the affordable housing scheme was a priority for the President, and he commended him for giving the issue priority.

However, he also emphasized the need to recognize the rights and needs of indigenous people, and proposed the addition of 12 more constituencies in the city as part of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Even though he said he did not want to talk about BBI given that the matter is in court, he maintained that the decision by a five-judge bench to annul the process did not end it and that those who are opposed to it should not celebrate yet.

He said, 'Covid-19 pandemic and the petition in court took us to half time, but be sure reggae will be back, because nobody can stop reggae.'
