On June 15, 2021, Samsung Electronics East Africa celebrated a major victory at the Vifaa Tech Awards, a prestigious recognition of outstanding consumer electronics and gadgets in Kenya.
The awards ceremony, hosted by Wee Media in partnership with Nation Media Group, saw Samsung Electronics East Africa sweep five categories, including Best Midrange Smartphone for the Samsung Galaxy A72, Best Flagship Smartphone for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, Best Battery Life on a Smartphone for the Samsung Galaxy A32, Must Have Accessory for the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, and Best TV in Kenya for the Samsung Q60 Series.
According to Mr. Charles Kimari, Head of Integrated Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics East Africa, the company's success is a testament to its commitment to manufacturing products that meet the needs of its customers. 'Samsung Electronics manufactures mobile devices, accessories and consumer electronics from the customer's feedback and winning these awards today just confirms that we are doing something right,' he said during the virtual award ceremony.
The Samsung Galaxy A32, A72 devices, and Galaxy Buds Pro were launched in March 2021, while the Galaxy S21 range of devices was launched in January 2021. The Samsung Q60 Series, commonly known as the QLED series, was launched in April 2021 during a virtual event held in Korea.
The Vifaa Tech Awards are part of the Vifaa Tech Festival, which aims to recognize and celebrate brands, gadgets, and stores that consumers appreciate. Unlike previous years, where international wards selection was the determinant of consumer choices, the Vifaa Tech Awards allow African consumers to determine their best devices and consumer electronics.
As stated by Saruni Maina, Managing Editor, Gadgets Africa, 'An important aspect in the life cycle of a consumer product is feedback from its users. We believe that through these awards, brands will be able to better connect with what their customers like and hopefully, the results serve as a blueprint for future products.'
Voting for the Vifaa Awards was open to the public from May 24 to June 6, 2021, through the Gadgets Africa website. The awards had 16 categories that the public could vote for.
