Located in the heart of Nairobi, the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) has undergone a significant transformation since its inception in 1967. Originally designed as a landmark to help visitors navigate the city, KICC has evolved into a state-of-the-art conference centre.

Commissioned by founding President Jomo Kenyatta, the 28-storey building was constructed in three phases, with the final completion taking place in 1973 at an estimated cost of Sh 80 million. The project was spearheaded by Norwegian architect Karl Henrik Nøstvik and Israeli company Solel Boneh & Factah, which still has a presence in Kenya.

For decades, KICC served as the headquarters of the Kanu party, with President Daniel Moi being a regular guest. However, when Mwai Kibaki succeeded Moi, KICC was wrestled from Kanu, marking a new chapter in the building's history.

Today, KICC is a bustling hub of activity, hosting local, regional, and international events. While technology has replaced the need for landmarks like KICC, the building remains an iconic symbol of Nairobi's rich history and architectural heritage.
