On Sunday, a crowd of hundreds gathered at The Lost Glory Restoration Center (LOGORC) in Kipsoen, Longisa, Bomet East, to witness the ascension of Bishop Fredrick Rotich to heaven.
The event was sparked by a prophecy Rotich made a week ago, claiming God had promised to take him to heaven alive on that day, mirroring the biblical story of Elijah.
However, as the day went by, Rotich failed to appear, and the crowd became impatient, eventually dispersing in search of the bishop.
According to some church members, Rotich had previously told them that he would be taken to heaven, and his body would be buried in the area.
Snider Korir, a church member, recalled Rotich saying, 'God has recognized what he has done to the people on earth and he has finished his job so he was going to be taken and that his soul would go to heaven but we are going to bury the body here.'
Efforts by the area chief and security officers to locate Rotich were unsuccessful, and attempts to reach him for comment were also futile.
