On June 12, 2021, detectives from Langata made a breakthrough in the recent spate of robberies targeting motorists along the Southern by-pass, arresting three more suspects.

The arrests were the result of a detailed analysis and investigation of the robberies, which involved the use of cyber and forensic analysis techniques to identify the beneficiaries of the crimes.

Among those arrested was Boniface Winjira Unganyi, the proprietor of Basement Crew mobile shop in Lindi, Kibra, who was found to be in possession of 102 mobile phones suspected to have been stolen from victims.

Two other suspects, 35-year-old Alex Mboya and a 16-year-old minor, were also arrested in connection with the robberies.

Five other suspects have been arraigned in recent weeks in connection with the violent robberies.
