On June 12, 2021, a dramatic scene unfolded at the Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen. Denmark star Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch, prompting the suspension of the match in the first half.

Medical staff rushed to Eriksen's aid, and the Inter Milan player was eventually stretchered off the field after around 15 minutes. The rest of the Denmark team, as well as Finland's players, left the pitch in a show of solidarity.

Both teams returned to their dressing rooms, and UEFA confirmed that the match was suspended due to a medical emergency. Later, UEFA tweeted that Eriksen's condition had stabilized, and he had been transferred to the hospital.

UEFA stated, "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark's player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET." They also added, "The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."

As of Saturday evening, there was no information available about what caused Eriksen to collapse, and UEFA was expected to make an announcement on the situation later.
