Kenya's high Covid-19 positivity rate has raised concerns about the upcoming World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi, with the UK pulling out of the event due to the pandemic.

According to the UK government, Kenya is on the list of 'red countries' at the highest risk from Covid-19, and visitors are warned against traveling to the country 'except in the most extreme of circumstances.'

As of the latest update, Kenya's positivity rate stands at 7.2%, with 403 new cases reported, including 4 foreigners. The youngest case is a one-year-old baby, while the oldest is 97 years old.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 442 patients have recovered from the disease, with 418 from the Home Based and Isolation Care program and 24 from various health facilities countrywide.

Sadly, 18 people have succumbed to the disease, with 17 of the deaths reported after conducting Facility Record Audits in May and June.
