Published on June 12, 2021, Kenya's Covid-19 cases have risen to 175,176 after 403 people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours.
Out of the 5,577 samples tested, 403 tested positive, bringing the cumulative number of samples tested to 1,864,020. The country's positivity rate stands at 7.2 per cent.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that the new cases comprise 399 Kenyans and four foreigners. The age range of those infected includes a one-year-old child and a 97-year-old.
According to Kagwe, 442 patients have recovered from the disease, with 418 being from the home-based care programme and 24 discharged from health facilities. This brings the total number of recoveries in the country to 120,031.
Unfortunately, 18 more patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the death toll to 3,396. Currently, 957 patients are admitted to various health facilities, while 4,796 patients are under home-based isolation and care.
Additionally, 163 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 30 on ventilatory support and 113 on supplemental oxygen. Another 105 patients are on supplemental oxygen, with 100 in general wards and five in High Dependency Units (HDU).
