Kenya has lifted the ban on flights from the UK, a move that comes after the country was added to the UK's travel red list in April.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision to lift the ban was communicated to the British High Commission in Nairobi on June 9.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents its compliments to the British High Commission and has the honour to convey the decision of the government of Kenya to lift all flights restrictions between Kenya and the United Kingdom effective immediately," read a letter from Kenyan officials.
Passengers arriving in Kenya from the UK will now be required to have a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test and certificate, conducted 96 hours before travel, except for children under the age of five.
Additionally, those arriving in the country will be required to self-isolate for seven days upon arrival and take a subsequent PCR test four days after arrival.
Kenyan officials stressed that the revised protocols will take effect as advised by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
Kenya initially banned flights from the UK on April 9 in retaliation to the UK's decision to add the country to its travel red list.
