On June 12, 2021, a family in Kiababu Ikinu ward, Githunguri constituency in Kiambu County was left reeling after their son, Ng'ang'a Muthaka, was found shot dead in his house.

A pistol suspected to have been used in the crime was left at the scene, along with a packet of seven bullets.

According to family members, they initially thought a loud bang heard at 2:00 am was a faulty bulb, but when the sister of the deceased discovered his room open at 5:00 am, she found her brother lying lifeless.

Ng'ang'a was a third-year student at Meru University, set to return to school the following Monday.

His family is now calling on security organs to investigate the murder, which they believe may be linked to a gang or team, as nothing was stolen from the house.

Deputy OCPD George Kipkoros confirmed the murder and assured the family and area residents that investigations are underway.
