On June 12, 2021, World Gin Day was celebrated in Nairobi with a gin tasting dinner at Tapas Ceviche restaurant in 14 Riverside drive. The event was organized by Tanqueray Gin and its associates.

The evening was a showcase of the perfect pairing of dishes with gin-infused cocktails. The first dish was a fresh fish carpaccio served with Tanqueray London dry and tonic. According to Fridah, a waitress, the dish was a red snapper cooked in citrus juices and served with tomato and red radish.

The citrus undertones in the London dry gin made it a perfect match for the dish. The second dish was a Mexican-inspired grilled chicken thigh paprika and white beans, served with Tanqueray Sevilla. The floral quality of Tanqueray Sevilla complemented the spiciness of the chicken and beans.

The last dish was a seafood extravaganza, grilled prawns Gambas la Brasa with saffron rice, served with Tanqueray no ten tonic with squeezed grapefruit. The saffron spice infused in the rice gave it a unique Spanish twist.

Gin has been gaining popularity in Kenya, with known brands becoming a favorite among revelers. In the United Kingdom, gin has surpassed whisky as the nation's favorite spirit, according to The Independent.
