On June 11, 2021, a dramatic scene unfolded in Nakuru as a murder suspect, Francis Mwangi, managed to escape from police custody.

According to eyewitnesses, Mwangi was being escorted by six officers and a trained police dog from K9 to PGH hospital after he was subjected to mob injustice and was seriously injured on the head, chest, and swollen hands.

However, in a shocking turn of events, Mwangi became violent and wrestled the two officers who were keeping an eye on him, breaking his handcuffs in the process.

He then disappeared into a nearby bush, leaving behind a trail of confusion and concern for the police.

But his freedom was short-lived, as he was re-arrested on Friday evening, bringing an end to his daring escape.
