On June 29, 2019, Tanzania's Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dk. Hamisi Kigwangalla, extended an invitation to Senegal's Krepin Diatta to visit Tanzania's tourist attractions after he was abused online following a match against the Taifa Stars.
Diatta was subjected to online abuse after scoring a goal for Senegal in a match against the Taifa Stars on June 23, 2019. Kigwangalla expressed his disappointment with the online abuse and invited Diatta to visit Tanzania's tourist attractions, including the Serengeti National Park and the Selous Game Reserve.
Diatta plays for the Belgian club Bruge in the Belgian Pro League and also plays for the Taifa Stars. In a statement on his Instagram page, Kigwangalla said, 'I invite Krepin Diatta to visit Tanzania and experience the beauty of our tourist attractions. We will cover the costs of his trip.'
Diatta responded to the online abuse by expressing his disappointment with the behavior of some Africans who had abused him online. He said, 'I am disappointed that some Africans have chosen to abuse me online. However, I will not let this incident deter me from my work.'
Diatta's response was met with support from Kigwangalla, who said, 'I am proud of Krepin Diatta for standing up for himself and refusing to be deterred by the online abuse.'
Diatta's visit to Tanzania is expected to take place soon, and Kigwangalla has promised to cover the costs of his trip.
