On August 15, 2017, Pendo, a young girl from Kisumu, died after receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital. She had been severely injured when police officers raided her home in Nyalenda, Kisumu, during a post-election operation.

Following the incident, the Team Embrace movement, which promotes peace and unity, visited the family and offered condolences. Sabina Chege, a female representative from Murang'a, was part of the delegation.

During the visit, Chege was visibly emotional as she listened to Pendo's mother, Lenser Achieng', recount the events of that fateful day. Chege had previously been tearful in public when she was confronted by youth during a visit to the same area as part of the Team Embrace movement.

On June 29, 2019, Chege made another emotional visit to the family, shedding tears as she remembered the young girl who lost her life.
