Four Killed in Multiple Accidents on Nairobi-Mombasa Highway

Published on June 29, 2019, multiple accidents on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway resulted in the deaths of four people and injuries to over 13 others.

At Kapiti Plains in Machakos County, a saloon car heading to Nairobi from Mombasa collided head-on with an oncoming caravan van, killing all three occupants in the saloon car instantly.

According to Machakos County emergency services director David Mwongela, three other passengers in the caravan sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Machakos Level Five hospital, while the other 10 passengers with minor injuries were taken to Shalom community hospital in Athi River.

Elsewhere, a police vehicle ferrying inmates to Makueni Prison overturned at Kiunduani area on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, resulting in the death of one person and several injuries.

The cause of the accident has not yet been established.
