Kenya's Education Ministry has postponed the selection exercise for Form One intake, originally scheduled to take place between May 28 and June 15.
Speaking at the Joseph Kangethe primary school, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha reassured learners that the exercise will be free and fair, with every candidate guaranteed a place in secondary school.
Magoha made the announcement on the same day the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results were released, with over one million candidates sitting for the exams.
According to the results, 8,091 candidates scored more than 400 marks, while 243,320 candidates scored between 301 and 400 marks.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has launched the selection process for the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to technical colleges, as directed by Magoha.
Magoha emphasized the importance of proper public mobilization and communication campaigns to ensure all interested candidates apply to colleges and TVET institutions of their choice.
