On May 20, 2021, police in Homa Bay County made a significant discovery when they found bhang worth Sh65,500 in an abandoned car at Ngegu market in Rangwe.
The vehicle, a Toyota Ipsum, had been left unattended for hours, prompting concerned residents to inform the police. Upon inspection, officers found 605 rolls of bhang stashed in the boot of the car.
Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney confirmed the incident, stating that police are hunting for suspects who abandoned the car. According to Seroney, the suspects may have left the vehicle after one of its tyres developed a puncture.
“Concerned residents liaised with our officers who rushed to the scene and found the narcotics in the vehicle. Investigations are ongoing,” said Seroney.
The police commander added that they are also looking for the owner of the Ipsum. The vehicle was towed to Homa Bay Police Station for further investigation.
