On May 17, 2021, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced that the team leading the FKF Premier League by June 30, 2021, will represent Kenya in the 2021/22 CAF Champions League.
This decision was made due to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the league calendar. As a result, the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee resolved that the FKF PL representative shall be the team at the top of the table as at June 30, 2021.
Perennial Kenya champions Gor Mahia FC are currently sixth in the league, 12 points off first place, and having played three games less than Tusker FC, who lead with 37 points after 17 matches.
Tusker FC is closely followed by AFC Leopards, with 32 points having played two games less. Kariobangi Sharks are third, tied on points with fourth-placed KCB (31), having both played 16 matches, with Bandari two points behind in fifth.
