On May 15, 2021, a burial ceremony in Kibengei Ward, Bungoma County, took a dramatic turn when a fight broke out between supporters of Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and a man allegedly working for Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

The incident occurred when the man, believed to be an aid to the Governor, snatched the microphone from MP Barasa while he was addressing mourners.

Video footage obtained by K24 Digital showed the man moving towards MP Barasa, confronting him, and forcefully taking the microphone.

Supporters of the MP immediately reacted, with some confronting the alleged Governor's aid and others engaging in a fistfight.

Despite efforts by a group of men to calm the situation, angry youths were recorded baying for the blood of the alleged Governor's aid.

MP Barasa called on authorities to arrest the man, saying, 'Let him be arrested and be taken to a police station or we take action as citizens.'

With the situation becoming increasingly chaotic, MP Barasa was forced to intervene and urge the irate youths to cool down.

He eventually managed to take the man to safety, but not before the situation had escalated into a full-blown fight.
