Kenya's COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped to 6% after 267 new cases were reported on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from a sample size of 4,436 tested in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases bring the total confirmed positive cases to 165,379 from 1,741,604 cumulative tests conducted so far.
Of the new cases, 253 are Kenyans and 14 are foreigners, with 237 males and 155 females affected.
The youngest person to contract the virus is a seven-month-old infant, while the oldest is 82 years old.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced 57 more recoveries, 34 from the Home-Based and Isolation Care while 23 are from various health facilities countrywide.
The total recoveries now stand at 113,489, with 82,484 from Home Based Care and Isolation, and 31,005 from various health facilities.
Twenty-five deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 3,001.
The new cases are distributed in 33 counties, with Nairobi leading with 67 cases, followed by Meru with 42 cases, and Busia with 18 cases.
Other counties with new cases include Uasin Gishu, Kilifi, Kiambu, Nandi, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kericho, Mombasa, Trans Nzoia, Kajiado, Embu, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Siaya, Kitui, Makueni, Baringo, Homa Bay, Taita Taveta, Tharaka Nithi, Vihiga, West Pokot, Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, Marsabit, Laikipia, Nyamira, Kakamega, and Garissa.
