On Saturday, May 15, 2021, Kenya Sevens team Shujaa concluded their participation in the Rugby Africa Solidarity Sevens second leg tournament at Markötter Stadium in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Shujaa, gearing up for the Tokyo Olympic Games, secured their third win of the tournament earlier in the event, defeating Uganda 31-7. Billy Odhiambo scored a brace in that match, with Herman Humwa, Daniel Taabu, and Bush Mwale also contributing to the victory.

However, in the finals, Shujaa suffered a 31-5 defeat to South Africa 1. The Blitzboks took the lead through Sako Makata's cross-kick and chase, and Selvyn Davids extended the lead to 12-0 after grounding another cross kick.

Angelo Davids then set up Selvyn Davids on the left wing for the third try, and Angelo stretched the lead to 24-0 with another good kick. Alvin Otieno managed to pull one try back for Kenya, but Muller du Preez sealed the win with a late try, making the score 31-5.

Shujaa now shifts focus to their last pre-Olympic tournament in the USA next month.
