On Monday, a tragic incident occurred at Ndhuru beach in Lambwe ward, Suba North constituency, where a fisherman lost his life in Lake Victoria.

According to Edward Oremo, the local Beach Management Unit Chairman, the deceased, Peter Okumu, slipped from the boat after a storm and fell into the water.

Okumu was with his colleague, Moses Odongo, who witnessed the incident.

As a result, fishermen from Ndhuru and neighboring beaches have embarked on a search mission to retrieve Okumu's body.

Chairperson Oremo urged fishermen to always wear life jackets while in the lake to prevent such incidents.

"I urge all fishermen to ensure they put on life jackets always because that is the only way of preventing such incidences," said Oremo.
