Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has made headlines after sending Sh300,000 to Sauti Sol's Bien Aime Baraza as a token of appreciation for their hit song 'Yes Bana', which was released on January 30, 2020.
The song, which was a collaboration between the two artists, has since been viewed over 3.4 million times and earned millions in licensing fees through a marketing campaign by a leading telco in the country.
Speaking on the Cleaning the Airwaves (CTA) show, Bien revealed that Khaligraph sent him the money as a gesture of appreciation for their successful collaboration.
“OG is the first artist to send me Sh300,000 via mobile money. He called me and said he would send the cash from the revenues which it had earned,” Bien said.
However, Bien also took a lighthearted jab at Khaligraph for sending the money in six batches to save on transaction fees.
