J. Cole Joins Rwanda Patriots in Basketball Africa League

May 9, 2021, marked a significant day for the Rwanda Patriots BBC as they announced the signing of American rapper J. Cole for the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League.

According to sources, J. Cole, 36, arrived in Rwanda two days prior and was in the midst of quarantining to meet the league's requirements.

Born Jermaine Lamarr Cole, the rapper had a notable basketball background, starring at Sanford (North Carolina) High School and playing for St. John's before turning his focus to music.

The Rwanda Patriots will face off against the Nigeria River Hoopers in the first BAL game on Sunday.

News of J. Cole's signing was first broken by The New Times Rwanda, which shared a video of the rapper in Rwanda.
