On a fateful day, May 10, 2021, Burnley secured a 2-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, condemning the latter to relegation from the Premier League. The defeat was sealed with goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood.

Burnley's victory marked a significant shift in the Premier League standings, with Fulham slipping to 18th place on 27 points, 10 points behind Southampton with only three games left to play. Meanwhile, Burnley rose to 14th place on 39 points.

The match saw Burnley take the lead in the 35th minute, courtesy of a Matej Vydra assist that allowed Westwood to score. The visitors doubled their lead just before halftime, thanks to Chris Wood's powerful shot into the top right corner.

Fulham's inability to create decent scoring chances ultimately led to their downfall, and they will join West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United in the Championship next season.
