On May 10, 2021, the Kenyan National Assembly passed the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Bill, sparking controversy and surprise among political pundits.

Contrary to predictions, a group of Tangatanga MPs voted in favor of the bill, leaving their colleagues accusing them of being 'sellouts' who were bribed to pass the legislation.

The Senate vote, scheduled for the following day, was already marred by controversy as mobilization efforts continued in full swing.

Leaked screenshots revealed a well-orchestrated plan by notable figures in the Tangatanga brigade to mobilize senators to reject the bill, with instructions on where to pick up their 'package'.

The lawmakers were also instructed to rally as many senators as possible to join the NO camp, with Ruto's team opposing the bill, citing it as untimely and ill-motivated.
