On May 10, 2021, a shocking case of fraud came to light in Nairobi, Kenya.

A director and agent of a travel agency, Abdikhani Ibrahim Ali and Najma Chaudhry of Ecobeast Travel and Safaris limited, were charged with obtaining over Sh 14 million from T.P. Mazembe, a football club from the Republic of Congo.

The two appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied two counts of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretenses.

According to the court, the duo allegedly obtained USD. 132,440 (equivalent to Sh14,434,870 million) from T.P. Mazembe by falsely pretending they were in a position to charter an aircraft belonging to Jetway Airline to ferry the team's players from Lubumbashi to Algiers on March 31, 2021.

They were released on a bond of Sh 1 million and cash bail of Sh 500,000 pending hearing and determination of their fraud case.
