On May 10, 2021, ODM leader Raila Odinga hosted a brunch at his Karen home, bringing together key allies in a bid to heal divisions within his party.

Among those in attendance were Senator James Orengo, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, and Governor Wycliffe Oparanya. The meeting comes ahead of a crucial Senate vote on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Senator Orengo, a long-time ally of Odinga, has been at the forefront of opposition to the party's position on the proposed 70 new constituencies. Meanwhile, Governor Oparanya has been seen as a potential presidential candidate and has been making moves to strengthen his position in Western Kenya.

Deputy President William Ruto's meeting with Oparanya has raised eyebrows, with some speculating that the governor may be eyeing a future alliance with the DP.

On Twitter, Raila Odinga shared a photo of the meeting, thanking his guests for dropping by. Senator Orengo also shared a post, discussing consultations with workers' leader Francis Atwoli on how to provide stability and empowerment during the pandemic.
