Published on May 10, 2021, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha praised the resilience of students who sat for the 2020 KCSE exams, despite the challenges posed by COVID-19.
Among the top performers was Robinson Simiyu Wanjala from Murang'a High School, who emerged as the top candidate with an aggregate of 87.334 points (A plain).
Wanjala's achievement was made even sweeter by a post-dated cheque of KSh50,000 he received from his school's deputy principal as an incentive to top the country.
He was closely followed by Wasonga Allan Udoma from Agoro Sare High School and Sharon Chepngeno Terer from Kenya High School.
Notably, a total of 839 candidates scored A plain in the 2020 KCSE exams, a significant increase from the 627 recorded in 2019.
