Murang'a High School Student Tops KCSE Exams

Kenya's top student in the 2020 national secondary school examinations is Simiyu Robinson Wanjala, a student of Murang'a High School.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha announced the results on Monday, May 11, 2020, while releasing the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam results.

Wanjala attained a mean score of 87.334, making him the best performer nationwide. He was closely followed by Wasonga Allan Udoma of Agoro Sare high school and Sharon Chepng'eno Cherer, who both had scores of 87.173.

Other top performers included Rob Ongare, Mbugua Esther, Kipkoech Mark, Kenneth Orange, Henry Madaga, Patience Chepkorir, and Musomba Edith.

According to Dr. Mercy Karogo, the acting chief executive officer of the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec), a total of 747,161 candidates sat for the examinations at 10,565 centres across the country.

Out of 752,891 candidates who registered for the KCSE exam, 5,730 missed the tests. The exams were marked by 25,135 examiners.
