Simiyu Robinson Wanjala Tops in KCSE Exams

On May 10, 2021, the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations (KCSE) results were released by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha.

Simiyu Robinson Wanjala from Muranga High School emerged as the top performer in the examinations, followed closely by Wasonga Allan Udoma from Agoro Sare High School and Sharon Chepngeno Terer.

Out of the 747,121 candidates who sat for the exams between March 26 and April 21, 2021, 839 candidates scored A plain.

While addressing the press at Mtihani House in Nairobi, Magoha credited fellow government officials for the success of the exercise, which was carried out amid the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Magoha expressed gratitude to President Uhuru Kenyatta for the guidance he provided during the entire examination period.

"I thank Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiangi and ICT CS Joe Mucheru for their help. For five years, the three of us have run a credible multisectoral examinations," Magoha said.

According to Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) CEO Dr Mercy Karogo, a total of 10,943 supervisors, 42,974 invigilators, and 2,634 drivers, among other 286,901 field officials contracted by the KNEC, played a crucial role in making the examination process successful.
