On Saturday, May 8, 2021, American rapper and TV producer Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, was honored as the Grand Champion in the International Wine Contest at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Texas.
50 Cent's Le Chemin du Roi Champagne took home the top prize, beating out other entries in the competition.
When asked about his win, 50 Cent exclaimed, “When they told me I won, I almost fainted. I was really excited, I am very proud of this,” in an interview with the press.
Interestingly, the winning bottle of champagne was purchased by two couples, Demetra and Frank Jones and Leticia and Stephen Trauber, for a total of $160,000.
50 Cent, who recently relocated to Houston, Texas, to produce his TV series The Green Light, also took to Instagram to share his brand-new trophy, a large saddle with the Rodeo Houston logo and the words 'reverse grand champion best of show 2021' emblazoned on the side.
However, the night wasn't all smooth sailing for 50 Cent, as he was outbid on a bottle of wine for $175,000, leading him to comment, “Man there are some people in Texas that got a lot of money, I bid $175,000 for a bottle of wine and I still lost,” on his Instagram account.
