On May 10, 2021, Deputy President William Ruto's daughter, June Ruto, was engaged to her Nigerian boyfriend, Dr. Alexander Ezenagu, in a traditional Kalenjin ceremony called 'Koito'.
During the ceremony, the groom's family was invited to negotiate the dowry and get to know each other. The event was held at DP Ruto's home in Karen.
Well-known radio personalities, Jalang'o and Kamene, discussed the wedding on The Morning Kiss, emphasizing the importance of not extorting in-laws during traditional ceremonies.
Jalang'o urged parents to work hard and save for their daughters' weddings, rather than viewing them as opportunities for extortion.
He referenced DP Ruto's daughter's wedding, saying, 'If you saw the wedding in Karen, it was just good vibes, rungu kugongwa hapa na pale, musiki. Do you see women being covered in leso's so that you pick the wrong one then fine. Your daughters bride price is not an investment or extortion it is a celebration.'
On a lighter note, Jalang'o blessed his co-host Kamene, wishing her well in her search for love.
