On Thursday, residents of Lepolosi village in Olulunga area of Narok South Sub County were shocked to discover the body of a 20-year-old University of Nairobi student hanging by her neck in her bedroom.
Although the village suspects a suicide case, the police were yet to establish the circumstances leading to her death.
Narok South Deputy County Commissioner Felix Kisalu confirmed that the body of Moipen Sadera was found in her bedroom in her parent's house.
Commissioner Kisalu dispatched a team of investigating officers and the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) to the homestead to interrogate the family members and close relatives as they investigate the matter.
He called on residents to seek psychosocial support among peers, close family members, confidants, or local leaders in case of any stressful situations to avoid occurrences of similar incidents.
Meanwhile, the body of a 21-year-old man who drowned in river Siyiapei on Tuesday evening has been recovered.
The man drowned at Kisiriri point while trying to rescue two girls who drowned while swimming in the flooded river two days ago.
Narok North Sub County Police Commandant Frederick Siundu said a team from the Kenya Police, Maasai Mara University divers, and the Kenya Red Cross Society had been camping in the area to recover the body that had sunk in the deep part of the river.
Commandant Siundu expressed relief that all three bodies had been recovered from the water, but was saddened that three people had lost their lives in an incident that could have been easily avoided.
He cautioned residents against sending children to the rivers to bathe, saying it was extremely dangerous during this season of heavy rains.
