On the eve of Ramadhan, the Institute of Certified Public Accountant (ICPAK) has shown its commitment to the community by distributing foodstuffs to vulnerable families in Mandera, Kenya. Published on May 10, 2021
According to Abdinoor Adan, the North Eastern ICPAK chairman, the initiative aims to ensure that the less privileged in the society celebrate during the upcoming Idd-ul-Fitr celebration.
Abdinoor Adan stated, 'We have taken the initiative to ensure the less privileged in the society celebrate during idd-ul-firt celebration next week.' He added that ICPAK will be distributing foodstuffs to the vulnerable in the area each Ramadhan year.
The families received 25kgs of rice, a bale of white flour, three litres of cooking oil, and detergent.
The region has been plagued by frequent droughts and famine, leaving the people living in the area among the poorest and most vulnerable in the country. However, some residents have started to practice agro-pastoralism with the support of government and non-governmental organizations, which has improved their lifestyle.
Well-wishers are urged to help the vulnerable in the society during this hard time brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
