Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai has responded to a policewoman's plea for a peaceful resignation from the National Police Service, following a viral video that has been circulating on social media platforms.
According to the video, the policewoman expressed her discontentment with the force, citing corruption and unfair treatment, including sexual harassment, within the Internal Affairs office.
She appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to disband the Internal Affairs office, which she claimed was not carrying out its mandate and was instead plagued by corruption.
IG Mutyambai has directed the Gender and Children's directorate to probe the allegations of sexual harassment, with a report expected within 7 days.
Here is the video of the policewoman's plea:
Dear @IG_NPS, here is a message to you. I can guess the solution from the Ruaraka Land thief Aka CS @InteriorKE will be let us ban smartphones or selfies in the Police Service, before then listen to this officer, give her an appointment, she may stay or leave, but reach out to her pic.twitter.com/z1LU6UdTJ8 — Dennis Itumbi, HSC (@OleItumbi) May 9, 2021
