Milan knock Juve out of top four with thumping win

On Sunday, May 10, 2021, AC Milan secured a crucial 3-0 win over Juventus in Turin, pushing the Old Lady out of the Serie A top four and increasing their hopes of Champions League football for the first time since 2014.

AC Milan's victory was made possible by a strong team effort, with Brahim Diaz scoring the first goal just before the break. The second half saw Anton Rebic and Fikayo Tomori add two more goals, securing the win for Milan.

With this victory, AC Milan moved up to third place, equal on 72 points with second-placed Atalanta, while Napoli trailed behind in fourth place. Juventus, on the other hand, slipped to fifth place, one point behind the top four with three games left to play.

AC Milan's coach, Stefano Pioli, praised his team's performance, saying, 'We had a great game, a victory over a direct rival at this moment in the championship is very important.'

Despite the win, Pioli acknowledged that there is still much work to be done, saying, 'We still have to fight. But I have a very young team, that is maturing as this evening proved.'

Meanwhile, Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo struggled to explain the team's poor performance, saying, 'We got into the game pretty well and then little by little we fell apart … It's hard to explain.'

With three games left to play, Pirlo remains committed to his job, saying, 'No I won’t step aside. I undertook this work with a lot of enthusiasm, with difficulties, but my work continues.'
