On Sunday, police in Kisumu County made a significant arrest, detaining five suspected terrorists. The operation, led by Nyando sub-county police boss Leonard Matete, resulted in three suspects being apprehended in Ahero and two in Kombewa.
According to Matete, the suspects had boarded a matatu heading to Kericho but alighted in Ahero when they realized they were being tracked. They then started walking back towards Kisumu after learning that a police roadblock had been erected near Ahero.
The police boss revealed that the suspects possessed Pakistan passports and appeared to have been in the country for a long period of time. The Anti-Terror Police Unit had been tracking the suspects due to their suspicious activities and has taken them in for further interrogation.
