Kenya Reports 316 New Covid-19 Cases, 12 Deaths

Kenya has reported 316 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 4,251 tested in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 7.4%.

Of the new cases, 308 are Kenyans, while 8 are foreigners, with 204 males and 112 females. The youngest case is a four-month-old infant, while the oldest is 89 years old.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Senator Mutahi Kagwe, the total confirmed positive cases are now 163,554, and cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,719,289.

County-wise distribution shows Nairobi with 97 cases, followed by Kisii with 38, Kilifi with 38, and Taita Taveta with 34.

On Sunday, Senator Kagwe announced that 62 patients have recovered from the disease, with 39 from various health facilities and 23 from Home Based and Isolation Care.

Sadly, 12 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative fatalities to 2,895.

As of now, 1,099 patients are admitted in various health facilities, while 6,290 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Additionally, 133 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 27 on ventilatory support and 81 on supplemental oxygen.

Furthermore, 916,800 persons have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease countrywide, with 534,836 aged 58 years and above, alongside health workers, teachers, and security officers.
