On a cold Saturday evening at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, May 09, TTM pulled off a historic upset by winning the South African FA Cup, just seven months after buying top-flight status.

The winning goal was scored by Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo in the 27th minute, when his shot from outside the box deflected off the head of Frederic Nsabiyumva and landed in the corner of the net.

TTM, coached by Dylan Kerr, a former Gor Mahia head coach, bought the franchise of disbanded Bidvest Wits after failing to win promotion last season.

Despite several months of poor results and chaotic administration, the ownership of TTM changed, and Kerr joined the club based in the northern city of Polokwane.

However, Kerr could not operate from the touchline until he received a work permit this week, and he won his first match in charge four days ago.

"All my players were heroes tonight. We dug deep to keep Chippa at bay and deserved to lift the trophy," Kerr said.

Chippa United, coached by Vladimir Heric, failed to capitalize on their chances, and their poor start contributed to their defeat.

TTM pocketed seven million rand (Sh53mn) for winning the final and qualified for the 2022 CAF Confederation Cup, the African equivalent of the UEFA Europa League.
