On 7 May 2021, Nation Media Group (NMG) and TV Media Sport (TVMS) announced a partnership that will see NTV, one of Kenya's leading television stations, broadcast the World Athletics U20 Championships exclusively on free-to-air television.
The championships will take place from 17 to 22 August 2021 at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya.
According to Hédi Hamel, President of TVMS, the event is a great opportunity to discover the next generation of athletes. 'We are grateful to World Athletics for choosing Kenya to host this event,' he said. 'The atmosphere at the stadium will be electric, with athletes from all over the world competing in front of a home crowd.'
Stephen Gitagama, Group CEO of NMG, expressed his excitement at being awarded the exclusive free-to-air media rights for the championships. 'This is a great honour for Kenya, and we are committed to making this event a must-see for Kenyans,' he said. 'We will use our platforms to bring Kenyans together to celebrate our sports heritage during these difficult times.'
