On April 6, 2021, Ruth Chepng'etich, the reigning world marathon champion, was named the LG/SJAK Sports Personality of the Month for April.

Her achievement was a result of her outstanding performance in the Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon, where she set a new world record of 1:04:02 hours, beating Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw to second place.

At just 26 years old, Chepng'etich broke the previous record set by Ababel Yeshaneh 14 months ago by 29 seconds.

Her impressive performance did not go unnoticed, as she also beat other notable athletes, including recent ARC Equator Rally winner Carl 'Flash' Tundo, Eliud Kipchoge, and KPA Libero Sam Juma.

Other nominees who were floored by Chepng'etich included Meldine Sande, who led Kenya Prisons to third position at the CAVB Women's Club Championship, and rugby star Daniel Taabu, who scored 7 tries for Kenya Sevens at the Emirates Invitational in Dubai.

LG Electronics corporate communications manager Maureen Kemunto congratulated Chepng'etich, stating that the company is proud to be a part of an initiative that rewards excellence.

SJAK President Chris Mbaisi thanked LG Electronics for their unswerving support, saying the partnership continues to make a significant difference in the promotion of sporting activities across the country.
