Published on May 6, 2021, Sauti Sol member Chimano has spoken out about the challenges his restaurant Kez Kitchen faced due to the pandemic.
Speaking on the group's podcast 'Sol Family', Chimano revealed that the business, which he started with Phidi Mwatibo in 2018, was thriving before the pandemic hit.
However, the singer said that the pandemic forced them to close the restaurant, stating, 'When covid hit, we had to close it. I can say I tried.'
Chimano went on to explain that the idea for the restaurant started as a joke, with the intention of honoring a friend's mother.
He said, 'It was for one of my friends, as a memory for her mom. If covid had not happened, it would have been a different story.'
Despite the challenges, Chimano remains optimistic about reopening the restaurant, saying, 'The dream is not dead. Once we get a proper footing, we will reopen.'
