Workout Hair Care: Tips for a Fresh Look

Exercise is essential for our overall well-being, but it can take a toll on our hair. Sweaty locks, frizz, and product buildup are just a few of the common issues gym-goers face.

Published on May 6, 2021, a recent article highlighted the importance of pre and post-workout hair care. To avoid the hassle of washing your hair every day, try the pre-poo method by applying shampoo to your roots before your workout. This will help protect your hair from looking greasy and keep it feeling clean.

When it comes to styling your hair for the gym, consider a loose bun or braids to minimize obstruction. Avoid using elastic bands, which can cause breakage, and opt for ribbons and ties made of softer fabrics instead.

After your workout, resist the temptation to blow-dry your hair. Instead, gently pat it dry with a towel and massage your scalp to stimulate blood flow. If your hair is particularly tangled, add some serum or detangler to help with combing.

For an added layer of protection, apply hot oil or a conditioning treatment to your hair the night before your workout and hold it in a bun. This will nourish and restore lost moisture back to your hair as the treatment soaks deep into your strands and scalp from the body heat produced when working out.
