On May 5, 2021, Telkom Kenya announced a groundbreaking partnership with Standard Chartered Bank, dubbed 'Omoka Vinoma', which aims to provide customers with a unique and competitive bundle of services.
The partnership offers Telkom prepaid subscribers a 100% cashback on Standard Chartered current account transactions for a period of three months. To qualify for this offer, customers must purchase a preferential data bundle, which costs KES 1,200 and provides 30GB of mobile data.
As part of the bundle, customers will also receive a one-month Showmax Pro Mobile subscription, which grants access to premium streaming content, including live sports events and local news channels. Additionally, customers will enjoy four free rides per month, valued at up to KES 260 each, courtesy of Bolt.
Standard Chartered will reimburse transaction costs incurred by customers during the three-month campaign, which ends on July 31, 2021. The partnership is exclusive to the Kenyan market and can be accessed via Telkom Kenya's USSD code 544#.
Eric Achola, Director of Marketing at Telkom, emphasized the company's commitment to providing innovative products and solutions to the Kenyan market. He stated, 'Our partnership with Standard Chartered Bank will address our customers' communication, financial, and entertainment needs during this period.'
Edith Chumba, Head of Consumer, Private, and Business Banking at Standard Chartered Kenya and EA, highlighted the importance of digital products and services in the current market. She noted, 'Our research has shown that most Kenyan youths prefer using digital products and services, and this bundle is our response to the need for quality internet access and financial prudence.'
