FIFA has ordered the expulsion of Zoo FC from the Kenya Premier League, citing match manipulation allegations. The decision was made by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, led by Deputy Chairman Alejandro Piera.
According to a statement signed by Piera, Zoo FC has been found responsible for activities related to match manipulation and has been expelled from the 2020/2021 Kenya Premier League season as of the date of notification.
The statement also ordered the relegation of Zoo FC's first team to the FKF Division One for the next season and instructed the club to implement a prevention plan to prevent and combat match manipulation.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) subsequently complied with FIFA's directive, issuing a statement announcing the expulsion of Zoo FC from the league.
FKF Secretary General Barry Otieno signed the statement, which read: 'In view of the aforementioned decision and in accordance with FKF's obligation to FIFA statutes, the federation has expelled your club from the 2020/2021 FKF Premier League season and relegated Zoo FC to FKF Division One League.'
At the time of the decision, Zoo FC was placed last on the 18-team FKF Premier League standings with eight points from 14 games.
