On May 4, 2021, AFC Leopards players and officials were caught allegedly violating COVID-19 protocols during training at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds in Jericho.
According to eyewitnesses, the players' officials and the grounds attendant had to run to avoid being arrested by police officers led by OCS Jogoo Police Station Eliud Byama.
The incident occurred just a month after the team was arrested for similar reasons, despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's suspension of all sporting activities in the country indefinitely due to rising positive tests as a result of the coronavirus' third wave.
President Kenyatta had suspended sporting activities in March, but lifted the suspension in May 2021, saying that COVID-19 infections had reduced significantly.
However, the Sports Ministry has yet to come up with conditions for the resumption of sports, leaving teams in a tight spot with a tentative date of May 12, 2021, looming.
