On May 4, 2021, the world was shocked by the news of billionaire Bill Gates and his wife Melinda's decision to divorce after 27 years of marriage.
According to a statement from the couple, they made the decision after 'a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship,' realizing they could no longer grow together.
'We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life,' they added.
Kenyan radio personalities Kamene and Jalang'o took to social media to share their thoughts on the couple's decision, urging Kenyans to learn from their example and end things amicably when necessary.
'Let's normalize ending things without drama,' Jalang'o said. 'If anything is to go by, Melinda will become the 2nd most richest woman in the world after Jeff Bezos' ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott.'
Kamene echoed Jalang'o's sentiments, saying that sometimes breaking up is a hard but noble decision.
'They saw that they could not grow together and decided to break up,' she said. 'They said they tried to work on their relationship and realized they were moving in different phases – and that's very okay.'
